Pengaruh Bacillus PL01 dan Monosodium Glutamat terhadap Bakteri Indigenous Pasir dalam Mendegradasi Plastik

Abstract


Semakin meningkatnya sampah plastik ini akan mencemari lingkungan. Salah satu penyelesaiannya dapat dilakukan dengan proses biodegradasi yang dilakukan oleh mikroorganisme. Bacillus PL01 diketahui mampu bersinergi dengan bakteri indigenous pasir dalam mendegradasi plastik di skala laboratorium dengan penambahan 1 gr/L Monosodium glutamat (MSG), sehingga dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari Bacillus PL01 dan MSG  terhadap bakteri indigenous pasir dalam mendegradasi plastik dengan metode penimbunan tanah dalam skala lapangan selama 12 minggu masa inkubasi.

Setelah 12 minggu masa inkubasi, pertumbuhan bakteri indigenous pada permukaan plastik transparan sebesar 0,9 AU, sedangkan pada penambahan Bacillus PL01 dan 1 gr/L MSG pertumbuhannya mengalami penurunan yakni 0,3AU. Degradasi juga diamati dari kecepatan waktu apung plastik, yaitu plastik transparan sebelum didegradasi kecepatannya hanya mencapai 10.54 detik dan ketika plastik transparan telah didegradasi kecepatannya mencapai 28.71 detik, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa bakteri indigenous pasir mampu mendegradasi plastik.
