Pengaruh Penambahan Larutan MgCl2 pada Sintesis Kalsium Karbonat Presipitat Berbahan Dasar Batu Kapur dengan Metode Karbonasi

Abstract


Kalsium karbonat presipitat telah berhasil disintesis dengan metode karbonasi dengan bahan dasar batu kapur. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode karbonasi dengan variasi massa Mg yang ditambahkan pada larutan MgCl2 yaitu 1, 2, dan 3 gram. Sintesis dilakukan menggunakan larutan CaCl2 dengan temperatur ruang dan kecepatan karbonasi sebesar 3 SCFH atau 1.41 ltr/mnt. Hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi dengan uji XRD (X-ray Difraction), mikroskop optik dan SEM(Scanning electron Microscopy). Penambahan larutan MgCl2 berpengaruh pada fasa yang terbentuk, morfologi, dan ukuran kristal produk kalsium karbonat presipitat. Sintesis tanpa penambahan MgCl2 menghasilkan fasa tunggal yaitu kalsit dengan ukuran kristal 0.19µm. Sintesis dengan penambahan MgCl2 akan menghasilkan fase kalsit, kalsit magnesian, dan magnesium karbonat. Banyaknya massa Mg yang ditambahkan, pembentukan fase akan semakin mengarah ke kalsit magnesian.
