Efektivitas Penggunaan Bioetanol Sari Buah Semu Jambu Mete (Anacardium occidentale L.) Terhadap Lama Pembakaran Kompor Bioetanol

Abstract


Bioetanol merupakan bahan bakar alternatif ramah lingkungan dan sifatnya terbarukan. Jambu mete (Anacardium occidentale L.) merupakan tanaman berpotensial sebagai bahan baku bioetanol melalui buah semunya. Buah semu jambu mete mengandung karbohidrat sebanyak 15,8 gram per 100 gram buah semu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh bioetanol yang efektif dari sari buah semu jambu mete terhadap lama pembakaran kompor bioetanol. Dari hasil penelitian, didapatkan etanol hasil destilasi dengan kadar 90% dan 70%. Data menunjukkan kecepatan pendidihan air menggunakan bahan bakar etanol 90% dengan waktu 17 menit 5 detik, bahan bakar etanol 70% dengan waktu pendidihan 21 menit 22 detik, hal ini dipahami karena nilai kalor dari etanol 90% masih lebih tinggi dari etanol 70%. Sedangkan untuk bahan bakar minyak tanah dengan waktu pendidihan 28 menit 7 detik. Jadi, berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, bioetanol yang paling efektif terhadap lama pembakaran kompor bioetanol yaitu bioetanol kadar 90%
