Abstract


Salah satu model pengeringan batubara adalah coal dryer yang memberikan keuntungan seperti tingginya tingkat perpindahan panas danĀ  massa.Dari penelitian ini dapat diketahui karakteristik pengeringan pada ruang pengering batubara dengan tube heater tersusun aligned. Hasil eksperimen kuantitatif menunjukkan peningkatan temperatur air heater diikuti dengan penurunan moisture content batubara dan peningkatan drying rate. Pengurangan moisture content terbesar dan drying rate tertinggi didapatkan pada temperatur air heater 60oC diikuti 50oC serta 40oC dan didapatkan juga pada kecepatan udara masuk 1,8m/s, diikuti 1,61m/s dan 1,45m/s. Konfigurasi tube heater secara aligned menimbulkan proses heating disertai proses humidifikasi. Kondisi udara di sekitar tube heater mengalami peningkatan temperatur dan humidity ratio serta penurunan relative humidity. Proses humidifikasi diakibatkan adanya konsentrasi perpindahan massa moisture batubara di sekitar tube heater karena nilai relative humidity udara di sekitar tube heater yang lebih rendah daripada batubara di sekitarnya.A
