Pengaruh Penempatan Silinder Sirkular di Depan Returning Blade Pada S/D=1,8 untuk Meningkatkan Performa Turbin Angin Savonius

Pada eksperimen ini, digunakan silinder sirkular yang diletakkan di depan returning blade turbin angin Savonius. Turbin angin Savonius pada eksperimen ini memiliki ukuran diameter sudu (D) 167 mm, tinggi (H) 298 mm, diameter endplate (D0) 321 mm, dan digunakan poros turbin dengan diameter (b) 19 mm. Turbin angin Savonius dioperasikan pada kecepatan angin 3,8 – 9 m/s atau bilangan Reynold 7,4×104 – 17,5×104. Silinder sirkular yang digunakan memiliki ukuran diameter 0,5D yang diletakkan pada jarak 1,8D di depan returning blade. Peletakan silinder sirkular ini terbukti mampu menurunkan gaya drag yang terjadi pada returning blade, sehingga performa turbin angin Savonius meningkat. Peningkatan tertinggi didapatkan pada kecepatan 3,8 m/s, yaitu meningkatkan Coefficient of Power(CoP) sebesar 168,1% dan Coefficient of Moment (CM) sebesar 89%. Sedangkan untuk nilai Coefficient of Static Torque, didapatkan hasil dengan silinder pengganggu memiliki self starting pada kecepatan 5-9 m/s.
