Kajian Fikoremediasi pada Air Tanah Tercemar Timbal dan Kadmium di Sekitar TPA Wukirsari, Gunungkidul

Abstract


Kehadiran TPA sering kali berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan seperti pencemaran air tanah yang disebabkan oleh lindi. Lindi dapat mengandung logam berat seperti timbal dan kadmium. Fikoremediasi menggunakan mikroalga menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi pencemaran air tanah karena dinilai lebih sederhana, mudah diaplikasikan, dan tidak memberikan dampak negatif pada lingkungan dibandingkan metode remediasi secara fisik dan kimia. Studi ini mengkaji literatur yang membahas pencemaran timbal dan kadmium pada air tanah, pemanfaatan mikroalga dalam fikoremediasi, dan kemampuan Spirulina platensis dalam menyisihkan logam berat untuk pencemaran air tanah di TPA Wukirsari, Gunungkidul. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa mikroalga memiliki enzim pada permukaan sel yang mampu mengikat logam berat. Penambahan Spirulina platensis pada air tanah tercemar di sekitar TPA Wukirsari menyebabkan konsentrasi timbal dan kadmium berkurang masing-masing sebesar 90% dan 85%.
