Studi Numerik Pengaruh Baffle Spacing Jenis Double Segmental terhadap Aliran Fluida dan Perpindahan Panas pada Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger

Abstract
Masalah Heat exchanger di PLTA disebabkan oleh air sungai sebagai fluida pendingin terpengaruh oleh kondisi lingkungan sehingga dapat menyebabkan fouling. Salah satu cara mengatasi dengan menggunakan model double segmental baffle karena menghasilkan lebih banyak turbulensi yang dapat mengurangi terdepositnya fouling. Akan tetapi, standar TEMA ataupun pendekatan teoritis tidak mengatur secara spesifik untuk model tersebut sehingga harus dicari konfigurasi yang optimal. Dilakukanlah penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh baffle spacing terhadap aliran fluida, perpindahan panas, dan pressure drop STHX dengan jenis double segmental baffle. Penelitian studi numerik CFD menggunakan ANSY Fluent dengan memvariasikan jarak baffle 55 mm, 45 mm, dan 35 mm pada 90 mm diameter shell dengan mass flow rate fluida shell divariasikan 0.5 kg/s, 1 kg/s, dan 2 kg/s sedangkan mass flow rate fluida tube konstan 0.85 kg/s. Hasil simulasi CFD menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh pada turbulensi dan kecepatan pada baffle. Semakin kecil baffle spacing akan menghasilkan vortex dan streamline yang lebih kecil sehingga terjadi peningkatan kecepatan aliran pada cross flow split baffle dan central baffle. Terjadi peningkatan kecepatan aliran rata-rata sebesar 0.9% pada spacing 45 mm dan 2.5% pada spacing 35 mm terhadap spacing 55 mm. Semakin kecil baffle spacing berpengaruh pada perpindahan panas dengan meningkatnya heat transfer coefficient. Variasi mass flow rate menghasillkan peningkatan h lokal rata-rata overall sebesar 6.26% pada spacing 45 mm dan 12.67% pada spacing 35 mm terhadap spacing 55 mm. Adapun pengecilan baffle spacing berpengaruh pada peningkatan pressure drop. Pada pressure drop lokal, variasi mass flow rate mengalami peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 3.1% pada spacing 45 mm dan 9% pada spacing 35 mm terhadap spacing 55 mm. Pada pressure drop overall, mengalami peningkatan rata-rata pada spacing 45 mm sebesar 21.43% dan 47.07% pada spacing 35 mm terhadap spacing 55 mm.
