Abstract
Bioetanol merupakan suatu produk yang dapat digunakan sebagai campuran bahan bakar yang berasal dari suber alam. Salah satu bahan pembuatan bioetanol adalah bagasse. Bagasse merupakan sumber biomasa yang berasal dari limbah pabrik gula. Bagasse mengandung banyak selulosa dan sedikit lignin yang potensial untuk bahan pembuatan bioetanol. Kelebihan dari bioetanol yaitu aman digunakan sebagai bahan bakar, memiliki titik nyala tiga kali lebih tinggi dibandingkan bensin, dan emisi hidrokarbon sedikit. Pabrik bioetanol dari bagasse ini terdiri dari 3 proses utama yaitu: Pre-Treatment dimana dalam proses ini lignin akan dilarutkan dengan NaOH dan pemecahan selulosa menjadi glukosa dengan H2SO4, fermentasi untuk mengubah glukosa menjadi etanol, dan dehidrasi untuk memurnikan etanol. Pabrik ini beroperasi secara kontinyu 24 jam selama 330 hari dengan kapasitas produksi 96.792 kL/tahun. Analisa perhitungan ekonomi didapatkan IRR 18%/tahun, Pay Out Time (POT) 7,06 tahun, dan Break Event Point (BEP) 32,07%.
