Studi Eksperimen Peningkatan Kinerja Turbin Angin Savonius dengan Penempatan Silinder Sirkular Berukuran d/D = 0,2 di Depan Sudu Returning pada Jarak S/D = 1,1

Abstract
Kebutuhan energi di Indonesia terus meningkat seiring dengan pertumbuhan penduduk tiap tahunnya. Energi primer Indonesia didominasi oleh energi fosil yang jumlahnya terbatas. Menyebabkan kita harus mencari alternatif energi terbarukan agar dimanfaatkan sebagai pengganti energi fosil yaitu energi angin. Kecepatan angin yang tidak terlalu besar sangat cocok dipilih turbin angin jenis Savonius. Turbin Savonius dapat ditingkatkan performansinya dengan menambahkan disturbance body didepan returning blade turbin sehingga mempengaruhi efisiensi dari turbin tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan silinder sirkular sebagai disturbance body. Studi eksperimen ini menggunakan turbin angin Savonius yang memiliki dua sudu dengan diameter sudu turbin (D) sebesar 165,2 mm, tinggi (H) sebesar 294,4 mm. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan rasio diameter silinder terhadap diameter turbin d/D sebesar 0,2 dengan jarak yang konstan S/D=1,1 dan variasi kecepatan aliran udara U=4-10 (m/s). Hasil yang diperoleh, peningkatan kinerja tertinggi dengan pemasangan silinder sirkular didepan returning blade d/D = 0,2 pada jarak S/D = 1,1 didapat pada kecepatan angin 4 m/s dengan nilai CoP dan CM, yang masing-masing meningkat sebesar 44,5% dan 22,3%. Selain itu, ditemukan adanya pemasangan silinder sirkular didepan returning blade turbin memiliki self strarting capability, meskipun hanya pada kecepatan angin 5 m/s.
