Studi Eksperimental Efek Interaksi Antara Silinder Sirkuler dan Sudu Returning terhadap Kinerja Turbin Angin Savonius

Abstract
Kemungkinan sumber daya alam yang tidak dapat diperbarui akan semakin habis. Turbin angin Savonius merupakan opsi terbaik dalam pemanfaatan energi terbarukan sebagai sumber tenaga pembangkit listrik. Prinsip kerja turbin angin Savonius adalah memanfaatkan selisih torsi akibat gaya drag pada advancing blade dan returning blade sehingga turbin dapat berputar menghasilkan energi mekanis yang akan dikonversi menjadi energi listrik. Penelitian yang dilakukan digunakan turbin angin Savonius dua sudu dengan rasio diameter (d/D) 0,2, aspect ratio (H/L) 1, jarak silinder pengganggu terhadap diameter sudu turbin (S/D) sebesar 2,5, dan variasi kecepatan angin bernilai 4 sampai dengan10 (m/s). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan menambahkan silinder pengganggu di depan returning blade efektif meningkatkan performa turbin. Nilai tertinggi diperoleh pada kecepatan angin 5 m/s yaitu diperoleh coefficient of power maximum sebesar 0,0576 pada tip speed ratio (λ) sebesar 0,662. Sedangkan peningkatan nilai coefficient of power maximum tertinggi pada kecepatan angin (U) 8 m/s yaitu sebesar 13,62% dengan nilai 0,0417 pada tip speed ratio (λ) 0,58 dan diperoleh peningkatan nilai coefficient of moment maksimum pada kecepatan 10 m/s sebesar 25,23%. Namun, penggunaan silinder pengganggu untuk semua variasi kecepatan belum mampu menyebabkan turbin Savonius memiliki self-starting pada semua posisi angular sudu.
