Sintesis Forsterit dengan Metode Pencampuran Koloid Silika dari Pasir Alam dan Magnesium Klorida

Abstract


Telah berhasil disintesis serbuk forsterite dengan metode pencalpuran koloid silica dari pasir alam dan magnesium klorida. Pasir silika dimurnikan mendapatkan pasir dengan kemurnian tinggi dilajutkan dengan proses kopresipitasi untuk mendapatkan koloid silika. Serbuk Magnesium dilarutkan dalam larutan asam untuk mendapatkan prekursor MgCl2.  Forsterite dibuat dengan menggunakan metode sol-gel. Metode ini dilakukan dengan mencampurkan koloid silika dan rekursor MgCl2 dengan berbagai komposisi. Sampel lalu dikeringkan pada temperatur 100°C dengan menggunakan hot plate. Serbuk kering dikalsinasi pada temperatur 900°C selama 2 jam. Identifikasi unsur dilakukan dengan menggunakan X-ray Flourescence (XRF) dan identifikasi fasa menggunakan X-ray Diffraction (XRD) . Data XRD dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan software Match!2 dan secara kuantitatif menggunakan software Rietica. Ukuran kristal diverifikasi dengan menggunakan Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Hasil analisis data XRD menunjukkan bahwa forsterit yang terbentuk pada sampel sebesar 90,5  % wt dengan rata-rata ukuran Kristal sebesar 53nm.
