PEMISAHAN MERKURI DARI BATUAN CINNABAR DENGAN ASAM DAN CAMPURAN ASAM-KALIUM IODIDA

Abstract


Pemisahan merkuri dari batuan cinnabar dengan asam dan kombinasi asam-kalium iodida telah diteliti. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pelarutan bertingkat berbagai larutan asam seperti asam klorida (HCl), asam sulfat (H2SO4), dan asam nitrat (HNO3), serta penambahan larutan kalium iodida (KI) dalam pelarut asam pada pemisahan merkuri dari batuan cinnabar Pulau Buru (Maluku). Hasil XRD menunjukkan bahwa sampel merupakan jenis batuan sulfida. Kadar meruri dalam sampel ditentukan dengan differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), hasil penentuan kadar merkuri dalam sampel sebesar 7,23%. Pada penelitian ini, pelarutan asam bertingkat tidak mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Pelarutan dengan HCl-KI mendapatkan persen merkuri terlarut terbesar yakni 9,77%.
