Potensi Azotobacter sebagai Penghasil Hormon IAA (Indole Acetic Acid)

Abstract


Azotobacter adalah kelompok bakteri rhizosfer yang dapat menambat N atmosferik. Azotobacter juga mampu mensintesis hormon pertumbuhan IAA (auksin alami) yang terlibat dalam regulasi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ialah  untuk mendapatkan isolat Azotobacter yang berpotensi menghasilkan hormon IAA (Indole-3-Acetic Acid). Purifikasi isolat Azotobacter dilakukan menggunakan media Nutrient Agar. Uji potensi sintesis IAA dilakukan dengan metode Salkowski pada media Nutrient Agar-triptofan yang ditunjukkan dengan perubahan warna merah pada isolat. Isolat Azotobacter yang mampu menghasilkan hormon IAA adalah isolat Azotobacter A1a, A1b, A3, A6, A9, dan A10 dengan isolat Azotobacter A9 dan A10 diindikasi merupakan isolat yang produktivitas IAA nya lebih besar dibandingkan isolat lainnya.
