Pengendapan Magnesium Hidroksida pada Elektrolisis Lauratan Garam Industri

Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan studi pengaruh beda potensial dan waktu pada elektrolisis larutan garam industri terhadap pengendapan magnesium hidroksida. Beda potensial dan waktu elektrolisis dibuat bervariasi masing-masing 6 V, 9 V, dan 12 V untuk beda potensial dan 40 menit, 80 menit, serta 120 menit untuk waktu elektrolisis. Elektrolisis akan menghasilkan endapan di katolit yang selanjutnya diuji kadar magnesium dalam endapan dengan menggunakan Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA). Diperoleh recovery magnesium hidroksida tertinggi sebesar 20,58% pada beda potensial 9 V selama 120 menit dengan massa magnesium hidroksida sebesar 0,0401 gram. Pengendapan magnesium hidroksida melalui elektrolisis ini juga dibandingkan dengan pengendapan magnesium hidroksida secara kimia. Dengan penambahan NaOH,diperoleh massa magnesium hidroksida sebesar 0,0432 gram. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pengendapan magnesium hasil elektrolisis tidak memiliki perbedaan secara signifikan jika dibandingkan dengan pengendapan secara kimia
